The motto of the 13th edition of DMY was “Back to the future”. With this motto they wanted to go “back to the roots” while at the same time move towards a further development of the festival content…
At DMY at Kraftwerk Berlin this year 107 exhibitors participated and 314 designers from 21 different countries. The programme for this four days included art projects, workshops, panels, open talks and lectures.
First thing that caught our eyes was the un-grid installation by FAHR021.3 (Portugal) and Simon Kassner (Berlin)

The festival is divided in differents sections Showroom – is for estabished designers and brands.

We were very curious about the LAB section dedicated for new talents. Together with the IKEA Foundation the New Talent Competition was launched for the first time.
Roy Yin was one of the exhibitors. With his Shrinking Office, he puts the office in visable hierarchy.
Designer Sara Campos Black Pottery. Black pottery is an ancient portugese craftsmanship. Only a few peolpe master black pottery today and it is a dying artform that Sara wants to revitalise.
Next up was Education for design and art colleges and universities.
HFBK from Hamburg.
The Berliner Zimmer was introduced this year to present the local design scen.
Jan Simon Veicht shows Berliner design at it’s best.
